The World of Pride and Prejudice

Opinion / Review

A few years ago I read the novel Pride and Prejudice, and I loved it, because it has many things that trap it in the story, I remember that when I heard the title Pride and Prejudice it made me curious, so I Googled the book. and I started reading it. This book is by Jane Austin, it is her most popular novel and is considered the prototype of the romantic comedy.

This novel tells how Mrs. Bennet has raised her five daughters with the only desire to find a husband. The arrival in the neighborhood of Charles Bingley, a rich and single young man, with some friends, arouses the interest of the Bennet sisters and neighboring families, who will see an excellent opportunity to fulfill their purpose. Elizabeth, one of Bennet's daughters, will begin a unique relationship with Darcy, one of Bingley's friends, which will unleash this story of pride and prejudice between the two of them until they come to know true love.

In her novel, Austen projects a detailed portrait of the society of her time. With wit and irony, the author harshly criticizes the hypocrisy and narrow-mindedness of her colleagues. She describes with great sensitivity the desperate number of women whose only chance at the time was to marry well, which, incidentally, the daughter of Pastor George Austen did not achieve. Fortunately, one could almost say, otherwise she would not have been able to write her wonderful novels that have served as the model for many romantic comedies thanks to her virtuous mastery of the art of splendidly entertaining her readers.

I never thought I would read this novel for a week. It has hooked me, a love story that survives the passage of time. Finally I recommend this novel.
